"Protect" means a SAFETY FEATURE has triggered.

The FIRST place to look is the SPEAKER TERMINALS. I'm betting you have a short-circuit across one or more of the speaker terminals/wires. REMOVE the wire ends from the terminals, ONE AT A TIME, looking for "whiskers" (i.e. wire strands) sticking out and shorting to the neighboring terminal or even the case. If there's nothing there, look at the terminals at the SPEAKERS for the same things.

If nothing looks amiss at the speaker terminals, it's possible your AC OUTLET has a wiring problem - check it using a plug-in "outlet checker" and rework the outlet if necessary.

Finally, it's possible your AC voltage is TOO LOW (i.e. below 90 volts AC), resulting in a "brownout" condition. Only a VOLT METER can check this condition, but only let a QUALIFIED PERSON (i.e. electronic technician or licensed electrician) do these checks.

If there's no problems with the speaker wiring or AC outlet, RETURN THE UNIT for replacement or refund.

That's all I can think of...

Ken
