Marco,Let me detail my same setup for you. Equipment: 1) Yamaha FM tuner 2) Yamaha CD 3) Technics SH500 DD&DTS processor (pro) 4) Toshiba 3108 DVD - 3108 DVD optical output to SH500 pro optical input 5) Parasound PLD 1100 pre-amp - CD analog L&R output to "Direct" input on 1100 pre - FM analog L&R output to "Tuner" input on 1100 pre - SH500 analog L&R output (normally goes to amp) to "Video" input on 1100 pre ("Video" here is a label for the audio channels associated with a movie) 6) Parasound 1205A 5 channel amp - L&R input from L&R analog outputs from 1100 preamp gives me volume control for CD and FM music (I never turn on SH500 here) - when listening to DD or DTS DVDs, I must turn on 1100 pre, select video for the 1100 pre, turn on the SH500 pro and 3108 DVD and put 1100 preamp volume control to 12:00 position (75db reference DD level). All further volume control for all channels is handled by SH500 pro. - Center and L&R surround amp inputs come from from SH500 Center and L&R surround analog outputs. This system works out well for me. I would have to remember to turn down the volume control when listening to music, except my Yamaha CD player has a variable volume control so I was able to match the volume positions. Bruce
