Bass Questions

Using Mozilla/4.04 [en] (WinNT; U):

I own a Denon AVR 2700 and need clarification on a few things.

If I define all my speakers as SMALL, does that route ALL bass frequencies to my powered sub? I have done this and it sounds like bass (or what sounds like bass to me) is still coming from the main speakers.

What frequency range is considered bass frequencies? I believe I read (in this forum) that all frequencies below 80hz (Denon) are passed to the sub. Does that mean all frequencies above are not bass, or being passed?

Does the frequency adjustment on a powered sub have any effect on what the receiver passes? Could someone explain it's intended use?
