Is bi-amping for real or psyco-acoustic ?
Posted by Charlie K [IP: 208.247.199.151] on July 21, 1999 at 08:26:36 I have a HK75 and Carver 705 5x125wpc amp. Is there any real advantage to letting the HK power the surrounds and using "y" connectors from left and right main pre-outs on HK to Carver allowing four 125 watt (2 ea. l+r) and one 125 watt source from HK pre-out to amp for center use. Will I be able to increase rear level output enough in setup to account for the wattage difference between the HK @70 wpc (conservative rating ?) and the Carver? One more question, will bi-amping way over power either Energy C2 or Paradgim Studio 20 speakers. If I follow the bi-amp vs. bi-wire scenario correctly bi-amping will provide 125watts of power to each driver independently for a total of 250 wpc where bi-wiring w/125 wpc simply by-passes the speaker crossover network. Hoping for some good feedback on this one Guys. Hey, C2's or Studio 20's, any preferences? Thanks, Charlie.
