Unless you have a balanced pre->amp connection.
In that UNLIKELY case place them near to the drivers.

NOTE: Even without a balanced connection (and if you have ***MUCH*** money to burn for *GOOD* & looong pre->amp cables) you may prefer locating them near to the drivers for added power and black magic issues I will not discuss here.
