I got mine a few days ago and I truly love it! My old AVC-2530 moved in with my neighbour the same night... :-)

I bought the AVC-A1 from Fischer HiFi in Switzerland since "HiFi-klubben" who sells Denon in Scandinavia haven't got even their first, fully booked, batch of units, at least in Sweden, (they say that they will get more units in october or something) and also Fischer was 25% down on the price including delivery to Sweden!

The decodeing and the amps is better then the Yamaha DSP-A1, but there is probably some personal taste involved.. I've been a "Denonite" a long time, and if you, like me, hold the "Denon sound" in high regards then this amp is for you.

DSP effects (Soundfield Simulations) are Godawful, every bit as bad as my old AVC-2530. If you want to enjoy the music with DSP Effects, by all means, get the Yammy, don't even think about the Denon!
5ch stereo and Matrix modes are rather good though, but those have nothing to do with sumlating soundfields...
And THX too, of course!

In my opinion, if you want clean, good sound in 2ch, DPL/DD/DTS(+THX), and don't aim towards Lexicon or other pricey midrange or even highend Pre/Pros, this unit is for You!

There's only one drawback with this unit, and that's that you need the OSD when changeing settings in menus. On my old Denon amp those things showed up on the frontpanel too.

It's really impressive that Denon has managed to cram that class of decodeing, poweramps, lots of connections, etc in this box at this price! I'm impressed, and, well, I bought it too. Go figure! :-)
