I am doing the same thing with a DSP-A1. I am feeding the REC2 output to the line in on a Yamaha M80 amp though. I have had no problems. The fact that everything works when a cassette deck is connected would seem to indicate that the A1 is fine. I would be much more suspect of the receiver.
