DVD Player capable of audiophile-class CD ?

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Windows NT; DigExt):

Hello. Are there any recommended DVD Players (< $1k) capable as a true audiophile-class CD player? Why pay for two pieces of equipment? Interested in quality CD performance mainly with less important role as a DVD player.
