DENON AVR 3300 Set-Up

Using Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; MSN 2.5; Windows 95):

I am new to HT and want to know how to hook up these components. Denon 3300, DVD 2500, DCM 65. My TV is a 27" Sony with Dual PIP and S-Video in (with the other usual inputs). I also have a Sony HI-FI VCR with no S-video. I'm confused about the coax/toslink difference. All the components will be within 3 feet of each other
