I'm no expert, but I believe the 6 channels of DVD audio are like the 5.1 channels of Dolby Digital - the 6th channel dedicated to a subwoofer. A receiver wouldn't need to dedicate a channel of amplification for this since itwould be routed to the subwoofer output, and presumably on to the customer's powered subwoofer.
The 5700 seems perfectly suited to handling DVD audio, with it's 6 analog inputs, since that's the only kind of outputs you'll find on the DVD audio players for now, until they agree on a new digital interface.
