I've got pretty mixed feelings regarding JVC. I thought their super class A amp was a pretty good value for the money, but it seems like they discontinued it it most of their models. I sold JVC for about six years...and they didn't get returned any more than normal.

In my opinion, the newer amplification found in the jvc's is below par when compared to the other big 3 (sony, technics, pioneerf) ... however, as you pointed out, its not a big deal to you. as i remember, their HT processing seemed cleaner than pioneer, and on par with technics and sony. i think i preferred the technics for the lower-grade gear, but that's just a personal thing. JVC would be my second choice.

i wouldn't have problems recommending that piece to a friend... however, before you buy, check this site out first!

finally, i think that audioadvisor.com is selling a pioneer with dolby digital for under 400 bucks. you may want to check it out.
