Yamaha RX-V2095 as preamp/processor
Posted by Greg Snyder [IP: 208.25.244.184] on February 27, 1999 at 22:44:53 In Reply to: Yamaha RX-V2095 as preamp/processor posted by Eric Sandburg on February 27, 1999 at 18:16:41: i've got the 2090, so realize my experiences may not be the same as yours... i've always believed the dsp on yamaha's to be the best in the low-mid-fi receivers... i purchased the 2090 believing that i could always add on other amps later to improve sound quality. since then i've added a few amps (rotel 980, dynaco st-120's to bi-amp), and have become very unsatisfied with the quality of the pre-amp section of the 2090. it's cold, has no depth, and seems to lack power. i did A/B testing with the 2090's pre-amp and the rotel 950... and the 950 just blew it away. after this experience, i've become very "anti-receiver", and very pro-separates... despite the increased price point. i blew about a thousand, and i'm unsatisfied... but i'm stuck. you may not want to make the same mistake i did. receivers make compromises to meet a price point. ... but that's my view... i might be wrong.
