Speakers in Series?????

Folks,
Thank God for these forums or I would be in trouble again! [Nigel: if this is in the wrong forum please change it; Stuart was not happy the last time I goofed]. My "bride" who is no audiophile of any sorts loves the music playing in the living. So Mr. Macho man [that's me!!!] says "no problem, I'll add speakers in the kitchen." Now do I need a 2 channel amplifier [my receiver has 6 pre-outs} or can I hardwire 2 additional speakers??? My receivers wattage is 90 watts in stereo mode;80 watts per channel front & 40 watts per channel rear in the surround mode. My present speakers are the Energy Take 5 series recommended amp power 15-100 watts sensitivity @ 88dB. The kitchen "space" is 20 feet from the receiver. Any ideas for speakers/do I have enough power, do I need an amp????? Thanks for any help. Bob Walters
