Does your sub have a 3-prong elec cord? I bet it does. I believe the theory is that there is a difference in ground between your elec outlet and your output on the receiver causing the hum you hear. When you disconnect the signal cable, you break the loop, hence no hum. The fix is to go to your local Home Depot, or other similar store and purchase an adapter for the elec cord on the sub. The adapter will have 2 prongs and hole for a ground screw. Plug the elec cord from the sub into the adapter and then plug into the bottom socket of your wall outlet. Do not connect the ground screw/hole. This removes the ground prong from the circuit and breaks the loop. The hum should be gone now. Happy listening! Scott
