The Fugitive - missing dialogue

While watching The Fugitive DVD on a Panasonic A310 player connected to a Denon AVR3200 receiver, I noticed ZERO dialogue from the centre channel; the receiver is outputting to centre, no connection problems. Oddly enough, the pan and scan side sounds OK, but the widescreen side has this strange problem. Any thoughts?
