MLP & Meridian a/v components

I keep hearing that DVD-Audio using MLP will do all decoding and processing in the DVD-Audio players and have a 6 channel analog output to the pre-ins of the pre/pro. If this is the case why does the Meridian products, namely, the 561 and 861 offer MLP decoding inside the processors? Does Meridian know something we do not??? Will pre/pro's be able to process MLP after all???
