Armageddon Dissapointing DVD Posted by Dennis Pagoulatos [IP: 153.37.7.172] on February 01, 1999 at 19:15:23: In Reply to: Armageddon Dissapointing DVD posted by Nigel Pond [SysOp] on January 22, 1999 at 10:20:48 : Well I'll have to disagree here. For a non-anamorphic disc I think the video is about as good as it gets. As for the soundtrack it came through as clear as a bell on my system. Do you have your output levels set correctly?? Just to update again, I agree on the video here Nigel, after a couple more viewings, it is pretty much as good as it gets for non-anamorphic...very nice job. The soundtrack is very challenging for even the best HT system, on my system I discovered that the "muddy" qualities that I mentioned in an earlier post were due to an improper Sub-setting (Nigel, you know about this one) which was causing out of phase bass, which to my ears sounded "muddy" in a lot of spots (and there are many on this disc) where there is heavy use of the LFE channel... Now it sounds very, very sweet, and there are a bunch more scenes which are reference quality IMHO: New York meteor shower is pretty darn impressive (I still like Independence Day's destruction better though in terms of audio) :)
