Toshiba 3109 layer change pause

Using Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.02; Update a; AK; Windows 95):

My Toshiba 3109 pauses for about a quarter second at the layer switch. I have seen this so far on Sphere and American History X. I was just wondering if other 3109 owners have seen this and also how the pausing compares to other players. The only other quirk I have seen is if you keep mashing the "3D" button on the remote to toggle the Spatializer on/off while the movie is playing, you will lose the audio entirely, and have to restart the disc to get it back.
