My mind is frying--please help!

Using Mozilla/4.5 [en]C-AtHome0405 (Win95; U):

Ok I am trying to move from Dolby pro logic to Dolby Digitial. Now here is what I DO know:

I am buying the Panasonic CT32SF35 TV.

Here is what I need:
A reciever
A DVD player

My confusion: Ok ideally I was looking at the Harmon Kardon AVR75. I am a big HK fan and all I have heard is good news. My challenge: That reciever is DD set but not DTS. Now if I want to keep my DTS options open, and get the best picture/sound from DVD, what do I buy? I have been looking at the JVC 501/D701 players.

Specific questions :

What is the best scenario for outputs on DVD and Receiver?

What is the importance of 6 channels vs 5 on the receiver?

Can someone please explain optical vs co-axial inputs on receiver and outs on DVD?

I know its long but my mind shattered 10 minutes ago. Thanks for your help!
