For general high quality production check out CD's produced by Chesky and Telarc. Also cruise on over to hdcd.com for a list of titles mastered in hdcd (not a guaranty of high technical quality overall but at least the A/D stage is high quality, overall definitely above average even at the worst). One of my favorites in the rock genre is Filter, "Short Bus". On a good system you can almost believe that the bass drum is right there in the room on the first track.

If you find any CD's that you really like please share your discovery, I am also always on the lookout for superior recordings in these same genres.
