DTS DVD

It's the studio's fault. DTS DOES NOT DISTRIBUTE the titles, the studios do. DTS just provides the sound encoding for the discs, and has nothing to do with release dates, etc. So if you have a bone to pick, pick it with the studios and not DTS. Unfortunatly it's been all politics to this point, but DTS is definitly worth it all. I have happily been enjoying my DTS laserdiscs for some time. I have not bought a DVD player yet, but I borrow one from time to time playing and ENJOYING DTS titles. Too bad for you that you don't like DTS. You people spend your money on high end cables/amps/speakers -whatever- to get subtle - but effective detail from audio recordings. Well what good is all of that if you use a severly compressed Dolby Digital soundtrack, that places restrictions on all channel levels from the original master. What's that? You say Dolby is transparent?...I don't think so. Dolby messes around so much that the result is a brighter sounding and less dynamic soundtrack than the DTS one. ...and I am aware of the channel level differences between the titles. I agree with DTS's approach - an unalteration of the original master for transparent and accurate reproduction at a high bit rate. I do not think that Dolby should make me have Dialoge Normalisation. I don't agree with Dolby re-adjusting the surround levels to -3dB below the front speakers. Why should Dolby tell me how to listen to it? This results in underperformance, and if I were the Director of the film, I would seriously disapprove. BTW: Eagles Hell Freezes Over has LOTS of bass - I don't know where you are coming from. Maybe you need a better sub or amp...or frame of mind towards DTS when you realise that the title release dates are not their faults. We will see lots more titles very soon. It will be your loss if you do not support the very best! Michael
