DTS DVD Born on the 4th of July Problem

Apparently, according to Widescreen Review, this same pic problem was on the DD edition as well. It was most likely taken from an NTSC composite D2 master, and suffers some digital enhancement unfortunatly.

How do you find the sound? I haven't listened to that one yet. I love the film, but the previous DD and DTS laser release had mono surround with the left rear channel louder by 6dB on both DD and DTS. Is it actually discrete stereo with this version?
