DTS DVD

What's that? You say Dolby is transparent?...I don't think so. Dolby messes around so much that the result is a brighter sounding and less dynamic soundtrack than the DTS one. ...and I am aware of the channel level differences between the titles. I agree with DTS's approach - an unalteration of the original master for transparent and accurate reproduction at a high bit rate. Brace yourself for the counter argument form our learned WizOp about efficient codecs vs inefficient. I think there may be some merit in this point. Even those DTS zealots at WideScreen Review were hard pushed to notice any great differences between DD and DTS versions of the same title on DVD. : We will see lots more titles very soon. It will be your loss if you do not support the very best! But no matter whose fault it is, DTS has not been done any favours by the initial cock-up on release dates caused by their own problems with the DTS DVD codec. If they or the studios or whoever cannot step up the pace of releases, no one is going to wait for them anymore - they'll get the DD version now, rather than wait in the hope of a DTS version that may or may not appear when advertised. Your arguments are worthy and maybe it is politics that is mainly at work here, but whatever the reason, DTS seems way too far behind to be anything but a niche player in the DVD market. Maybe that's OK but that was certainly not their original intention.
