DTS Audio Drop Outs?

: Larry

: : I own about 6 DTS audio discs. The only one with problems is the Mystic Moods disc which constantly switches away from DTS to analog and back very rapaidly. Is there somthing amiss about this disc?

: In my experience dropouts are fairly common with DTS audio discs, either because of a faulty disc or because the codec which was used to encode the disc material is incompatible with the codec which the receiver is using to do the decoding. For the former there is not much to be done except exchange the disc, for the latter a firmware upgrade by the manufacturer (if available) usually cures the problem.

: Also I am not quite sure what you mean by switched away from DTS to analogue - do you mean between digital lock and no digital lock? There is no analogue on DTS audio discs or DVD's.

My DVD player is the Pioneer Elite DV-09. My processor is the Lexicon MC-1. The switching that I am refering to is an apparant loss of digital signal. The Lexicon displays "DTS Music" when receiving the digital signal, but quickly switches to "Logic 7" when the digital signal is lost. There is a rapid back and forth, signal, no signal that continues as the disc is played. I attempted to correct this by changing the fx to DTS only hoping that would eliminate the problem. It did not. It only changed the front panel display to say "no audio signal".
Is there some set up that I'm missing on either piece of equipment or with the disc? Or does it appear to just be a faulty disc?

Thank you,

Larry Cotten
