NEW 10.2 channel format!

I mainly think THX is good for assuring that some questionable mass market components will performer at a standard level. That level, I believe, has been reached by many of the mid-fi components, such as Yamaha, Denon, Onkyo, HK, Marantz and the sort. In fact, Technics first prologic THX receiver, I think it was the 1000, still had alot of noise in the rear channels. Some midfi receivers without THX had the same, if not better, performance than this receiver. At the time, what it offered and how it performed, was on par with other competitors. I don't buy into THX. The THX select is like adding the circuits without the previous THX badge. In fact, I bet that's what manufactors are doing now to have the nice logo on their receivers. I do believe the money spent on licencing, could have been better spent on other items. Pioneer's THX receivers look like the best THX implemented Receivers. For features and design, they look pretty good. The VSX-26 has mainly the same features as the Yamaha RX-V995, but at a $200 THX Ultra premium. I have never heard the Elite line models, so I'm judging by features, power and design alone.
