Richard,

: I have been especially enjoying ITV recently. They are in the middle of a 'double O heaven' series. They are showing all of the Bond movies in sequence, culminating in either Goldeneye or TMD (I can't remember which). All of them are being broadcast in anamorphic widescreen and look great!

I can't bring myself to watch Bond on ITV, in my opinion they've murdered the mystique and unique nature of the series by showing the same films over and over and over with very little respite between them. One Bond movie a week is criminal, besides, adverts in any movie should be outlawed.

The anamorphic widescreen is commendable, but has been restricted to true 16:9, which is OK for the first few movies which were shot in academy, but once we get to Thunderball, the full frame width is needed. ITV are still cropping the edges. I'd strongly urge you to get the DVDs of your favourites, the image quality of the NTSC versions is superb, they're anamorphic, the correct ratio and many are remastered 5.1 Dolby Digital.

Now, Charlie Dimmock in anamorphic 16:9 I can stand. ;-)

Stuart.
