: Is the DTS version compatible with players that just support DD5.1 or will the DTS version just play in surround?

The DVD spec provides that DVDs must have one of two forms of compulsory audio digital format, PCM or DD. DTS DVDs are therefore required to have a DD soundtrack as well, but as the spec does not insist on DD 5.1, they all have DD 2.0 tracks along with DTS. If you do not have a DTS compatible DVD player and a DTS receiver then stick with the DD 5.1 versions of the titles.
