Dear Nigel,

I really missed your concern for the buyer of an illicit card in your first response. You are doubtless kinder and/or more politically astute than I am. I have no problem with somebody buying a copy of the new Star Wars film from a guy on the street in New York and later finding out that he is the proud owner of a cubscout fire building tape. I figure the buyer was trying to get away with something and I shed no tears for his mistake. Likewise I don't think that the "consumer" needs protection from what he knows is his attempt to scam the satelite operators.

Unless I have missed something, a very possible event, there is another story here. I wonder if anyone knows about the Canadian situatiion, described by one of the pirate sites as outlawing the honest reception of American programming and condoning or at least decriminalizing the theft of the same signals. I would like to read something that describes this whole situatiion from an unbiased position.

Thanks, Art
