Sony725 and pal TV?

First how old is your PAL TV? If it was made in the last 5 or 6 years it may very well be capable of displaying an NTSC video signal without conversion. It is not very well known but most TVs made for the European market can display NTSC on at least one of their inputs - I have a 6 yr old Philips Matchline (see link) which does just that, so you may not need a DVD player which converts NTSC to PAL. In fact usually it seems to be the region coding of the disc that determines the format of the output. For example if I play a European region 2 DVD in my player, it outputs PAL, but if I play a US region 1 it spits out NTSC. The reason for this is that the native video format of DVD exists outside the PAL/NTSC divide - it is the MPEG decoding board that determines the final output (I think!). So the answer to your question is that you may not need an answer!! Can you borrow a DVD player to try with your TV, just to be sure before you buy?
