Assuming you are talking about DVD's, let us first make the point that there is only 1 region 1 DTS DVD available at the moment (a Japanimation-style disc called The Legend of Mulan - not the Disney one) and from the reviews I have seen of it it is pretty crummy. Mainstream DTS DVD's are supposed to be here sometime in December/January (although they were supposed to be available last March and kept getting delayed).

Having said that when (if?) DTS DVD's are available, as well as having a DTS equipped receiver you will also need a DTS compatible DVD player - ie one that has (designated by the DTS logo on its front) the correct on board software to be able to recognise, extract and output the DTS track from the MPEG encoding on the disc.

: And also I will be buying the Eagles DTS CD, so can I play this on an ordinary CD Audio player? and if so is there a stereo track as well on the disc? If not ,would a DVD drive in my PC and a sound card with S/P DIF output do the job?

Sshhh...don't call them DTS "CD's" around here!! - Stuart rightly points out that they are not CD's in the true sense of that term, because they do not comply with the CD specification. DTS audio discs is probably better. Having said that, because on such a disc the DTS track occupies the space where the PCM digital track would be (the DTS track is the only track on such a disc) most CD players with a digital output should be able to output the DTS track to your receiver OK. I have a 10 year old Sony Discman with a toslink output and it does the job just fine. However there are some CD players that "condition" the digital output before it leaves the player (eg some Marantz models) and these screw up a DTS audio track in such a way that it cannot be decoded.

So bottom line is most CD players and DVD players with a digital output should be able to deal with a DTS audio only disc, only a DTS compatible DVD player can deal with a DTS DVD.
