The reply is garbage!

A toslink output is a digital optical output, squarish in shape and about 1/4" x 1/4". It will usually have a squarish black plastic blanking plug in it when not in use. With the plug out and a disc playing it will emit a red light (the digital optical data).

A coax digital output is an RCA jack, sometimes coloured orange. If you are unsure whether your CD player has a digital output (and not all do), check in your manual (you do still have the manual, don't you?). In the specifications section, usually at the end, it will list the type of outputs the player has. If it only lists analogue outputs you're out of luck, I am afraid.
