Armageddon Dissapointing DVD

I finally bought Armageddon on DVD and watched about 15 minutes of it and shut it off. I was very dissapointed in the sound using the rears. I am new to the whole DVD thing but I have seen many of them now and this one just does not do the movie justice.
QUESTION: Did I not watch enough of the movie, will it get better?
Is it my imagination that the DD is not very impressive?
DO I need some kind of help?
Please any comments on this movie would be appreciated.
MY favorit so far was propably Fifth Element for the usage of the surrounds.
