For taping onto standard VHS you may have a point, but if I was taping onto s-vhs I would want the best possible source signal. My point is even more valid in thsoe situations where macrovision needs to be defeated because it is screwing up a front projector picture, because that sort of display device really shows up deficiencies in the source signal it is being fed.
