Its obvious you did not see the VS-50803 from Mits ($3999). While Sony is an excellent set, the picture in the Mits is cleary better. With a built-in line multiplier, it handles NTSC better than the XBR will and is better equipped for DTV. I don't know what your budget is for buying new TVs. If I buy a TV today, it has to be upgradable. I want it to last for more than a couple years.
That's all that we are trying to say here. HDTV is not as far off as you think. Before I shell out $3800, it had better be able to handle DTV.
