: I will be buying a DVD player soon, but I can wait a while longer. I want to avoid buying an external decoder if possible, for the sake if expense and simplicity. I know that there are DVD players out there with onboard DD decoders that do DTS pass-through. Does anyone know if any manufacturer plans on releasing a DVD player that decodes DD AND DTS? It would be worth a wait of one product cycle...

I haven't heard of any future DTS decoders in DVD players, but I would avoid an internal player DD decoder if possible. I would prefer to spend the extra $100 or so towards an external decoder with multiple DD inputs so that it will support both the DD audio format of DTV when DTV becomes more common along with the DVD player.
