I have accepted that DIVX is in competition with rental VHS, but my apprehension has not subsided. As long a lower quality format exists such as DIVX, there will be fewer releases on Open DVD and the overall quality of home theater movies will suffer. Several years down the road, I would like to see Open DVD replace both laserdisc and VHS. That way, less popular movies will have a better chance of being released in wide screen and with better picture quality.
