Rich,

I suspect a problem with the alignment of the optics of the player. In other words, exchange it for another. I agree with you 100% on the remote control! I had a Pioneer DVL-909 DVD/LD player and hated the very similar remote it had - all those same size buttons and to make matters worse, the pause button is VERY close to the track 3 and 4 buttons - not good when the telephone rings and you go to pause the player!

I returned my DVL-909 as the DVL-919 is coming out. I bought a Sony DVP-S300 which may not be the favorite in videophile circles, but the remote is 100% better.

Alan

: Just got this unit and am happy with the dvd playback, but 1 audio cd my wife put on, celine dion - these are special times , 2nd track play with a severe crackling sound.
: A replaced cd did the same, and this cd plays fine on my computers cd.

: Any thoughts.
: Anyone else having audio cd problems?

: btw. the remote is very poorly layed out and has small buttons.

: Thanks for any input, Rich
