Creative DVD

Has anyone actually seen the Dxr2 at work on a tv playing DVD video? Is it as good as consumer DVD? Does it have a digital output for AC3 decoding? The reason I ask is that it is less than half the price of consumer DVD players (since I already have a PC ready)and I'm thinking of purchasing a decoder. Sony any good? Thanks for any info.
