Panasonic VCR - Model PV-4565S

I am having a problem with random screen flashes. I can be watching either a movie or cable TV run through the VCR and all of a sudden the screen will flash. At first I thought it might be the TV but we checked that by trying it on another TV. Same problem. Any ideas about this would be greatly appreciated.
