DTS from non-DTS DVD Player? Posted by SMR [WizOp] [IP: 212.211.25.20] on November 29, 1998 at 00:52:23: In Reply to: DTS from non-DTS DVD Player? posted by Michael S. Gilmore on November 29, 1998 at 00:48:44: Michael, : Is this true? By true, I mean, has anyone hooked up a S7000 to a DTS decoder and played a DTS CD and got the receiver to output DTS? Nearly all Red-book compatible Compact Disc players can output a DTS signal digitally from DTS music discs (what you're erroneously calling "CDs"). As DVD-Video players can also play Red-book Compact Discs (in the true sense of the term) they'll also play DTS music discs. You require a DTS compatible player for it to recognise the DTS data within the MPEG multiplex of DVD-Video discs however.
