DVD and Widescreen - WHY???

I agree with Mike E. There should at least be a full screen side on each disk. That is, until 16X9 becomes a household standard. Then hopefully the producers will convert/release their films in one standard, rather than half a dozen! Oh yeah, The TV/Projector is the only device which can do the anamorphic conversion. All the DVD menus allow is an output which is Pan&Scan or Anamorphic, under various clever terms. In fact, it surprises me that movies are so commonly put out in Anamorphic standards. With so few TVs/Projs on the shelves that can actually do the conversions.
