New RPTV....4:3 or 16:9????

Posted by Cam Ens [IP: 199.185.225.239] on December 11, 1998 at 23:56:21:

I am trying to pick a new RPTV for my newly created home theatre system. I just can't decide on the screen size. I plan to watch a lot of DVD's, but of course will watch a lot of regular TV on my satellite (Canadian) as well. If I go with a 55-65" 16:9 RPTV, will I hate watching regular TV? Does a 'smart' 16:9 RPTV make the picture acceptable without gray bars or is it too distorted to watch? But....I'm also noticing alot of DVD's coming out in widescreen only, which doesn't look great letterboxed on a 60" 4:3 RPTV. Any help and suggestions would be fantastic!!
