: I know the title is a little self contradictory, however....

: Although Toshiba's SD7108 has been postponed, I'm VERY keen on ProScan DVD and will wait until it happens before upgrading my player.

: My question is:

: All of the Front Projection systems that I have looked at (mainly Runco) have only Composite, S-Vid, and RGB/HV inputs... (ie. component video is assumed to go through a doubler or scan converter and be output in RGB with sync info) (I can't see why you wouldn't put all your sources through said processor in any case :-)

: But - no Video Line Processors that I've seen have ProScan Component inputs... (why would they? :-)

: Can I input ProScan to them anyway??? Would this confuse the hell out of them :-) or would I have to settle for an S-vid connection until either the Projectors or Video processors are available with Progressive Scan inputs?

: Thanks in advance.
: Ian.

If you are interested in connecting the Toshiba or Pioneer Progressive scan output DVD or an HDTV decoder to your front projector without a line doubler you will need a transcoder. Current Design will be demonstrating a new Component to RGB video transcoder at the upcoming C.E.S. in Las Vegas with Vidikron. The transcoder has exceptionally high bandwidth (160 MHz)and will work with both progressive scan and interlaced video signals. The picture is completely free of cross chroma luminance and dot crawl artifacts providing the highest possible resolution available to your projector. Another point often overlooked is that component video has twice the chroma signal content of S- Video. The color is therefore much more vivid and lifelike.
The model number of this transcoder is the CVT-100 and it will be available in late January. For more information on this product call Current Design at 201-342-1235.
