New RPTV....4:3 or 16:9????

Using Mozilla/4.61 [en] (Win95; U):

Yeah, if i was in a position to buy
a set as a defacto DVD/laserdisc
display it would be a 16:9. But for
me, it would have to display 4:3
and some PSX games as well (although
some newer PSX titles have 16:9
display options as well, i noticed...).

I may have the itch to upgrade my
set in the next year or two, and
i'm hoping that Sony's successor to
53XBR200 will have the vertical height
adjust that they've incorporated in
their new Wega XBR250 direct views.
Best of both worlds, anamorphic
display capability AND still 4:3 for
most current cable/air programming.

Shaw broadcasts movies in letterbox?
Are you talking some of the PPV? I
know i've seen the occasional lbx on
Showcase or Bravo....

My biggest beef right now with Shaw
is the decrease in picture quality
on the compressed channels on their
digital service....
