Help !! Nicam problems

After using the service menu on my Sony kv29x1 (I even wrote all the original settings down) I have now lost sound. All I get is hiss with just about audible TV sound in the background. If I use my VCR to change channels, all is OK but this means I can't record whilst watching something else. I think it may have something to do with the TT codes used on PAL TV's.
