LD players with optical out; no AC3 rf; no DD?

I heard that LD players with optical out (such as my Sony MDP-333) will pass only DTS disks audio; not Dolby Digital. The owners manual states that audio will be present on this port unless "you play disks which are not recorded digitally".
Since Sony has delayed the shipment of my STR-DA50ES receiver; I can't verify this. I have the "Fifth Element" LD with Dolby Digital primed as my first view with the new receiver. Am I in for a disappoinement?
