Posted by Duane on September 30, 1998 at 10:58:54: In Reply to: TV Service mode questions... posted by Jay on September 30, 1998 at 00:37:20: :You obviously know how to access the service mode.Yes,the HPOS/VPOS/VSIZ/HSIZ are the parameters to adjust for geometry.5% overscan is acceptable,but as you can see,the geometry may be shifted.If you do adjust anything,make sure you jot down the factory settings first.Now,onto the the GDRIV and RDRIV..without proper test equipment,you shouldn't even attempt to mess with these setting.These are the upper end adjustment for gray scale.The lower end is GCUT and RCUT..all four react with each other.Without a color analyzer,you can't tell by eye,the best setting,because an adjustment on one end affects the other.You have to go back and forth to get a decent track..trust me,I've done many a Sony..and to give you a value for each won't work either..tubes do wear a bit over time.your best bet is to find someone with a color analyzer.See link below.
