Only a select number of sources are available to view HD at this time. Federal regulations require that standard signals must be transmitted along with HDTV signals until 2009. By then improvements will be leaps and bounds ahead of where they are now.

Home Theater magazine has a good article on this subject, look for the Jan. 99 issue.
