Projector or Monitor?

Posted by Guile Gambhir [IP: 207.172.118.122] on February 28, 1999 at 22:07:30
Using Mozilla/4.04 [en] (Win95; I):

Hi I haven't heard from anyone about this model in a while so it thought I'd give it a shot and see:

1) Does anyone out there have a LCD RP monitor or have you seen one in action? Have you ever seen Sony's kl-W9000 (50") or kl-W7000 (37") in action?

2) Are these monitors a good solution for everything?

I have a gateway destination xtv system which has a dvd III. I was just thinking of getting this monitor as opposed to a projector (like sony's VPL400Q) because I don't want to have
to only work with it in minimal light conditions. I could use the monitor for all my console and pc entertainment as well as general dvd viewing...

Although projetcors these days have HDTV inputs, that is not a main concern of mine.

I've seen a 15" lcd monitor by gateway and it looked very nice but I dont know how a rear projection lcd monitor compares - I can't find a store that demos it anywhere here in MD.

Do you guys think there is a better solution or better model I should research?

Stop me if I'm making a mistake!!

thanks for any advice,
gg
