That supports the consensus opinion I have read on the net. If anything popular opinion tilts slightly toward coax. Coax's advantages appear to be:

More robust connection. Toslink connectors can be unreliable, fiber can break if bent too much.

Higher bandwidth for coax. I don't know why this would make a difference though as long as both types can pass data at the rates determined by the hardware. Bandwidth in excess of what is required just goes unused? Heck if I know.

Any alledged performance improvement of toslink does not justify the additional cost.
